BBQ Chicken Sliders

Ingredients

  • 12 -count package Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 3 cups cooked rotisserie chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Use a large serrated knife to slice the entire block of rolls in half horizontally, keeping the individual rolls connected.
  • Place the bottom half of the rolls into the prepared baking dish.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, toss the shredded chicken with the barbecue sauce until evenly coated.
  • Distribute the BBQ chicken mixture evenly over the bottom roll layer.
  • Layer the sliced red onions and shredded cheddar cheese over the chicken.
  • Place the top half of the rolls over the assembly.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, garlic powder, and chopped parsley.
  • Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the tops of the rolls.
  • Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and continue baking for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and the tops are golden brown.
  • Allow the sliders to rest for 5 minutes before slicing into individual portions and serving.
