Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 2 cloves garlic , minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 brioche or whole wheat burger buns

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped cilantro, lime juice, lime zest, minced garlic, cumin, salt, pepper, and panko breadcrumbs.
  • Gently mix the ingredients by hand until evenly distributed, taking care not to overwork the meat to maintain a tender texture.
  • Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties approximately 3/4-inch thick.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium heat.
  • Add the patties to the pan and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.
  • Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked patties on the bun bases and adding desired garnishes such as avocado or red onion.
