Classic Caprese Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced into 1/4 inch rounds
  • 3 large ripe tomatoes, sliced into 1/4 inch rounds
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves, whole
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  • On a large platter, alternate overlapping slices of fresh mozzarella and tomatoes.
  • Tuck a whole basil leaf between each slice of cheese and tomato.
  • Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil evenly over the arranged ingredients.
  • Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the salad.
  • Season with flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper just before serving.
