Jalapeno Popper Twists

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large jalapenos , seeded and finely diced
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup cooked bacon bits
  • 1 large eg g
  • 1 tablespoon wate r

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl, combine softened cream cheese, diced jalapenos, shredded cheddar, and bacon bits until smooth.
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over half of the pastry sheet.
  • Fold the bare half of the pastry over the filling and press the edges slightly to seal.
  • Using a pizza cutter, slice the pastry into 1-inch wide strips.
  • Hold each strip at both ends and twist 2 to 3 times, then place on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Whisk the egg and water to create an egg wash and brush over each twist.
  • Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  • Allow to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before serving.
