Transfer the meat and sauce mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it into an even layer.
Distribute 1 cup of mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce layer.
Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single, uniform layer across the top of the cheese.
Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 25 minutes.
Remove the dish from the oven and top with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and the pepperoni slices.
Return the dish to the oven for an additional 20 minutes or until the tater tots reach a golden-brown texture and the cheese is bubbly.
Allow to rest for 5 minutes before portioning into 6 servings.
